SGS congratulates Conant alum and seven-time state champion Allison Buckley for capping a spectacular freshman season
at the University of Illinois by earning SECOND TEAM ALL-AMERICAN honors on balance beam with a sixth-place finish (9.825)
at the NCAA Meet April 24-26 at Athens, Ga. Buckley is the U of I’s FIRST WOMEN’S GYMNASTICS ALL-AMERICAN. She
also placed 18th in all-around (38.525).

Lies, who coached boys and girls gymnastics at Naperville Central over the last 27 years, passed away March 20 at age 59 after
battling cancer. Lies was an assistant to Naperville Central coach Glen Reimers until the time of his death. The school designated
a meet the John Lies Invitational on Jan. 12 this year in recognition of the 1966 Naperville Community High School graduate's
countless contributions to the program. Please join SGS in extending your condolences to his family and friends.

SGS wishes to extend its condolences to the family of former longtime Tribune boys and girls gymnastics correspondent Ken
O'Brien, who passed away March 2 at age 45 after a long battle with Cystic Fibrosis. Ken has been employed by the Joliet Herald-News
for nearly the past two years, working the education beat.
